Growing Together

10/25/2015

I am so excited about our journey of faith. We have really grown over the last eight years, and I do not want to grow complacent in our life together. As we get into the very busy Holiday season, things only get busier between now and Christmas. However, there is still business to be done. I have noticed a drop in both the attendance on Sundays and the participation in our parish meetings. The last two council meetings we did not have enough members present to have a quorum. We are not getting the reports from the committee chairs to conduct necessary business. When someone is scheduled to be a reader or do the children’s sermon at church, it is imperative they find a replacement if unable to attend.

I do understand how busy we all are but it’s going to take commitment from each of us for the collective good of the church. I am forever grateful for everything that has been done. Union Church is a wonderful faith community thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of those that have given so generously of their time. But more involvement is needed. I am asking all members to give prayerful thought to how you can join us and be an active member of the Union Church Family.

When Jesus called his disciples and asked them to become fishers of men, I am sure that each had a To-Do list, as well as family and work commitments. And while we are not called to leave our homes, we are all called to service. We have each been given different talents so that collectively we can be one body.

May God be pleased with our choice of service and our ministry to one another, and may our works bring God’s story to light for everyone that we meet.

God Bless you and your loved ones,

Rev. Stephen W. Barch
