MOTHERS

4/26/2026

As we transition into May (one of my favorite months) we look at a month that brings spring growth outside and Easter Season inside. It calls us to re-evaluate the way that we live out our faith and the way that we allow the world to influence us. It is the month that we take time out to celebrate the woman who gave birth to us and the one who taught us what love is
and how powerful it is in our lives.

Have you ever noticed that the Bible often uses the image of God as a mother to describe His nurturing, comforting, and protective love for humanity. This maternal metaphor emphasizes that God’s care is unconditional, tender, and deeply personal, much like a mother’s love for her children.

Mothers are God’s gift to us. If your mothers were not, I am sorry. God’s plan is that mothers have unique qualities.

Nurturing and Comforting - Just as mothers provide warmth, encouragement, and nourishment, God offers spiritual sustenance. Guidance and peace. Isaiah 66:13

Protective - Mothers shield their children from harm; God is described as a shield and refuge. Psalm 91:4

Unconditional – A mother’s love does not depend on performance; God’s love is constant and forgiving. Isaiah 49:15
Gentle and Patient -Like a mother who calms a child, God soothes and reassures us. Psalm 131:2

God knew what he was doing when he gave us mothers. They are the first teachers of God’s love and the best teachers of God’s love. Using the mother metaphor helps believers grasp God’s intimacy and tenderness, reminding them that He is not distant or impersonal, but a loving personal and always watching over us, whether we realize it or not. His heart breaks when we mistreat Him or our mothers and He smiles when we spend time with them or talk to them and keep them informed. So hug your mother and tell her how much you love her. Happy Mothers day - God.
